- July 2009 was the hottest month in observed history /since 1896/.
- There were 15 days with a high temperature of 110 °F or greater, tied for second most on record (most was 16 in 1989; 1979-2008 average is 8).
- There were 12 days with an average temperature of 100 °F or higher, the most ever recorded (previous record was 11 in 2006; 1979-2008 average is 3).
There were 10 days with a low temperature of 90 °F or higher, tied for second most on record (most was 11 in 2003; 1979-2008 average is 2).
- This was only the second time there failed to be a high of less than 101 °F (other was in 2005).
- July 12-18 2009 was the 9th hottest week on record by average temperature (101.6 °F; hottest was 102.9 °F June 25-July 1 1990).
- July 28 2009 tied for the 10th hottest day on record by average temperature (103.5 °F; hottest was 106.5 °F on June 26 1990).
- The temperature failed to fall below 88 °F from July 10-19, the second longest streak of such on record (longest was 11 days July 2-15 2007).

- July 2009 was the hottest month in observed history (since 1878).
- There were 13 days with an average temperature of 98 °F or higher, the second most on record (most was 14 in 2006; 1979-2008 average is 5).
- There were 21 days with a low of 85 °F or higher, the most on record (previous was 20 in 2006; 1979-2008 average is 7).
- This was only the third time that the temperature failed to fall below 80 °F in July (others were 2006 and 1996).
- From July 15-29 the temperature failed to fall below 85 °F, the second longest such streak on record (longest was July 29-August 14 1995)
