This visible satellite
image was taken at 900am PDT 9 Aug 00. Fires in central Idaho and southwest
Montana generate huge amounts of smoke. This smoke was carried by the
upper level winds across South Dakota and Nebraska, and into Iowa and
Ilinois.
This image was
taken at the same time as the above picture. Note the dense smoke filling
in many of the valleys in central Idaho and southwest Montana.
